School Planetarium Visits
The Piner High SPARQ Planetarium and Digital Theater has been hosting Elementary and Jr. High classes from around Sonoma County since 2016. We have had 5,500+ visitors over this time with an average attendance of 750+ students each school year (minus 2021 due to covid). The SPARQ planetarium has also hosted high school classes, SRJC students, and boy/girl scout troops earning their Astronomy badges. This free program has become a popular field trip for local teachers. It is open to anyone who has transportation to the SPARQ Center. Some classes even take the City Bus to SPARQ! It is popular enough that demand outpaces available spaces. We would love to expand the program to inspire and educate young students about STEM. The SPARQ Center not only provides unique opportunities to Piner High School students, but also to our local community.
